On Thursday, under the baking sun, 8 pupils represented the school at Kwik Cricket.
The rules are as follows:
8 aside-4 boys and 4 girls from years 3 & 4
Each bowler bowls a maximum of 4 balls
Each player bowls once.
Batsmen work in pairs and face a maximum of 2 overs. Each runs scores 2.
Each wide or no ball scores 2
Each wicket is -2 from the batting teams score.
Teams start with 200 runs.
Our team consisted of Zoe, Allyson, Khadija, Julia, Jamie, Lenny, Calvin and Daniel.
In the first match we batted first against Downderry and scored impressively-Lenny with an almighty 6,
When fielding the team played even better. Jamie started it with an impressive catch-and their was even a double run out. We won that match by 27 runs.
The second game seemed a much closer affair. We had taken 7 wickets against Downderry, but struggled to take more than a couple against St Augustine. Some great bowling by Zoe managed to keep their runs down and we won by 28 runs.
In the final match against St William Of York we played extremely well. We didn’t score many fours or sixes, but some brilliant fielding kept OLSPN on top. In the end the team were the outright winners having won all three matches.
Even better was seeing the children support each other with high fives and cheering on the team. What a great advert for cricket it was!
